Haste Makes Waste

Secretary of State Clinton says the United States is moving quickly to address Global Warming. Of course the Obama administration is moving quickly, they have to do something before the theory falls on the ash heap of quack science where it belongs. If they don’t take immediate action they will have lost their excuse for muzzling the US economy and limiting our freedoms—saving the planet.

Will He Bow Again?

The Prime Minister of Iraq is requesting that US troops involved in a raid on Sunday be prosecuted. Though the raid was carried out with the approval of the Iraqi government, the Prime Minister is calling for the release of six insurgents seized in the raid and for charges against the American fighting men who accomplished the mission. In these Obama days of goodwill and dialog, I suppose doing one’s duty to country even at the risk of life and limb is out of place, if not criminal. (more…)

My Earth Day Celebration

In honor of Earth Day I made elaborate plans to celebrate with the proper behavior due such a solemn occasion. Since people were being asked to turn off their lights for a period of time to show their dedication to conserving energy and saving the planet from the evil of man’s devices, I intended to observe the day in a way that made much more sense.

I planned to spend the day with every light in the house turned on and extend my usual five minute shower until the hot water ran out. In the evening I was going to clean the dishes in the dishwasher rather than by hand and use the heat dry instead of air dry the dishes. Along with this, I would idle both cars in the driveway for a couple hours to consume what I felt was an appropriate amount of fossil fuels. In short, I planned to use the maximum resources, making my carbon footprint as big as possible.

In the end I did none of this. Not because of repentance or remorse, but because I forgot it was Earth Day. I went about my day normally, working to make a living for my family and to improve the world through meaningful employment. My original plan was to show the proper amount of respect for the Earth Day holiday. In the end I succeeded more than I could have imagined, because I ignored it and went on with my life. This is exactly what such a phony, hyped ‘holiday’ deserves.

That night my daughter reminded me that it was Earth Day and I had the opportunity to tell her the truth: “Eco-fascists are using alarmism to get people to give up their rights and freedoms. When the old Socialist revolution failed, authoritarian whack-jobs had to find another vehicle to remake the world in their image. This is not an effort to save the planet, but to make us submissive sheep.”

This is the perfect way to handle Earth Day, as an opportunity to share the truth with a young person about how fleeting are our freedoms, and how susceptible the masses are to propaganda.

Undercutting our Allies

Few things can be worse than the entire country of Afghanistan controlled by the Taliban. With this base Al-Qaida was able to train, mastermind and launch the horrific attacks against our soil and kill thousands of Americans whose only crime was showing up for work on time. Who can think of anything worse than that? The latest news forebodes something far worse, nuclear armed Pakistan potentially under the control of the Taliban. Imagine what Al-Qaida could have done with a nuke or two.

Recently, Pakistan has seeded control of a major area of northwestern Pakistan to the Taliban and allowed the imposition of Sharia law. Not satisfied with this (Do deals with the Devil ever turn out as planned?) the Taliban has extended its influence into a neighboring district bringing it to within 60 miles of the capital.

Though I have my problems with George W. Bush, and have written about them here, at least he was willing to fight even when the world said talk and understood how to deal with those who kill innocents. Perhaps having a cowboy who understood oak-tree justice as Commander-in-Chief was a good thing. Is it possible that our new presidents desire to play at peace has led to this? We no longer have a president who will scorn dictators or tell the world: “You’re either with us or against us!” With a president no longer willing to swing the big-stick all we have left in foreign policy is the soft-talk. I fear that when it comes to foreign policy and dealing with the enemy, “the spine has left the White House.”

Another View on Gay Marriage

April 20, 2009 in Constitution, News and Current Events | Comments (0)

Many have been scratching their heads wondering if John McCain was as far off the reservation as once assumed. Some who abstained from voting have questioned their actions because of the presidency of Barack Obama. Now, we get an example of the kind of advice McCain was getting. His chief advisor is recommending the GOP drop its opposition to gay marriage. In his view the only reason to oppose it is the Bible and this puts the party in danger of becoming a religious party. How quickly people forget that it was the religious right, pushed into action by Rowe v. Wade, that drove the Reagan revolution. With advisors like Steve Schmidt let’s just hope McCain has given up on the Oval Office and stays home in 2012. I doubt he would even be much good even stumping for anyone. (more…)

I think this picture says far more than any commentary I could give. Obama makes nice with a socialist anti-American tyrant. Is anyone surprised?

Homeland Insecurity

Shortly after the attacks on 911, President Bush announced the new Office of Homeland Security. A good friend of mine was frightened by the potential for this new agency, seeing in it a potential for abuse of freedoms. I didn’t agree because I believed the reports that it was just a reorganization to increase communication among various organizations. We were early in the Bush administration and I, like many Americans, still thought he was a conservative. Besides, we had recently learned of glaring security problems through the attack. As a good American son, I have always been watchful of efforts to overstep by the government so I was put off guard by my trust for an individual. I forgot that the man sitting in the Oval Office is not the measure of our government, because that man will change every four to eight years. (more…)

A Call to Defend

April 15, 2009 in Constitution, Hip-Pocket Congress | Comments (0)

Every member of Congress since 1884 has taken the following oath of office:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Those elected to represent a congressional district answer to their people first (as the sovereign body) and then to the people’s document—the Constitution. The founders knew a strong central government was needed to deal with foreign nations and ensure a strong union between the states, but they feared a federal government without restrictions. Besides establishing the branches of our federal government and defining its relationship to the states and the people the main emphasis of the Constitution is to restrain this new leviathan. For example, the navy is a permanent fixture, provided for in the constitution, while the army must be funded with new legislation every two years. The founders, in effect, placed a sunset clause on something as essential as an army to protect the people from abuse by their own leaders. (more…)

The Unfairness Doctrine

April 14, 2009 in Constitution, Domestic Policy, Hip-Pocket Congress, Obamination, Orwellian Newspeak, Political Action | Comments (0)

In the beginning there was the Three. The three were all powerful and all truth was filtered through the Three. The Three were known as ABC, CBS and NBC. Over time, alternatives to the Three come forward. Conservative talk radio, cable news outlets and the Internet allowed the truths once hidden by the Three to be shouted from the roof tops. Over time, the Three and their cronies in print saw their influence and power wane. It was no longer possible for them to twist the news to meet their political agenda without being called to task for it. Such a change is never welcome to despots. After years of wandering in the wilderness the Three have found their deliverer. The Obama administration along with the Hip-pocket Congress of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are working hard to end free speech in America with the “Fairness Doctrine.” This bold-faced effort to silence those who would stand against their leftist agenda to recreate America in the European image is everything the founders of our country fought against. ACORN Supports Obama–Duh!

April 13, 2009 in Political Action | Comments (0)

Tags: , ,

In response to the Tax Day Tea Party movement, ACORN has recently announced their intention to counter-rally in support of President Obama, his tax policies and budget. I doubt this was doubted by anyone. They support Obama for several reasons. With pork in the budget, the potential of ACORN involvement in the census and their past activities having a president in office beholding to them is a boon. They get more money, more authority and lower the chances of prosecution from an Obama justice department. Obama gets a ready made protest anytime he needs it.
