Over the last few weeks we have heard nothing but how badly the government needed to spend almost a trillion dollars on a list of liberal pet projects. Now Nanci Pelosi is calling on congressional committee chairmen to cut federal spending. Last week she was the Queen of the national credit card and this week she is the matron of restraint and discipline.

Jared Allen of the Hill describes this as an attempt to: “to keep the mantra of “fiscally responsible” legitimately alive in the Democratic Party.”

Nancy Pelosi can pretend to be the voice of fiscal responsibility, but few will believe it. Sorry Madame Speaker, too little too late. We’ve seen your stripe and we know where the smell is coming from. There’s a skunk on capital hill.
