Turncoats

Last night the Senate voted for Cloture on the pork-ulous package. Cloture is a tool to squash filibusters, and end debate. The rules require 60 votes to invoke cloture. The Senate has decided that no more debate or discussion is needed on borrowing against the income of our children and grandchildren.

When you read the list of who voted you see a trend. Every single nay vote was cast by a Republican. Unfortunately, not every Republican voted against it; three voted with the Democrats. Without enough votes to silence debate on this huge spending plan, three Republicans rode to the rescue of President Obama by voting to silence their own party and force a vote—a vote the Spendocrats will handily win. To see the list of who voted and how go to the Senate website.

The Dishonorable Senators Specter (R, PA), Snowe (R, ME) and Collins (R, ME) silenced your voice. Neither Snowe nor Collins are up for re-election this next cycle, but Specter is. I understand that the GOP has been loathe to go against Arlin because they fear losing his seat to a Democrat, but the GOP is so far out of power it is time to do some serious house cleaning and get these people out of our ranks. Senator Specter has been a constant thorn in the Republican side. I am calling on Republicans to take action to get Arlin Specter out of office the next cycle. If that seat is going to vote Democrat then having a Republican butt in it is worthless.
